Δρ Ανδριανός Κοντογεώργης MBBCh, MRCP, PhD

O Δρ Κοντογεώργης είναι ειδικός καρδιολόγος και διδάκτωρ του Imperial College London. Έχει εξειδικευτεί στη διάγνωση και αντιμετώπιση αρρυθμιών σε ενήλικες και σε παιδιά καθώς και στις κληρονομούμενες καρδιακές παθήσεις (Inherited Cardiac Conditions). Έχει ειδικευθεί στην Καρδιολογία και εξειδικευθεί στην Ηλεκτροφυσιολογία εξ’ολοκλήρου σε πανεπιστημιακά νοσοκομεία του Λονδίνου και είναι πιστοποιημένος από την Ευρωπαϊκή Καρδιολογική Εταιρία-EHRA στην επεμβατική αντιμετώπιση των αρρυθμιών με κατάλυση. Είναι πιστοποιημένο μέλος του Royal College of Physicians London.

Σπουδές

Ο Δρ Κοντογεώργης αποφοίτησε με Άριστα από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Witwatersrand του Γιοχάνεσμπουργκ Νοτίου Αφρικής (1992-1997) όπου γεννήθηκε και έζησε τα παιδικά του χρόνια. Συνέχισε τις σπουδές του στην Καρδιολογία και την Ηλεκτροφυσιολογία στο Λονδίνο, όπου έζησε από το 2000 έως το 2017. Από το 2005 έως το 2007 διατέλεσε διδακτορικός ερευνητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Νεας Υόρκης με υποτροφία του British Heart Foundation, όπου ολοκλήρωσε το πειραματικό μέρος της διδακτορικής του διατριβής με τίτλο “Murine Gap Junction Remodelling Induced By Subdiaphragmatic Pacing” ως διδακτορικός φοιτητής του Imperial College London και το 2015 αναγορεύθηκε Διδάκτωρ του Imperial College London. Ειδικεύτηκε στην Καρδιολογία με πεδίο εξειδίκευσης την ηλεκτροφυσιολογία στα νοσοκομία St Mary’s, Hammersmith, Royal Brompton και Harefield του Λονδίνου (North West London Deanery). Πιστοποιήθηκε από την Ευρωπαϊκή Καδριολογική Εταιρία ως ειδικός καρδιολόγος με εξετάσεις το 2014 και από το General Medical Council του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου το 2015.

Εξειδίκευση στις αρρυθμίες

Ο Δρ Κοντογεώργης εξειδικεύτηκε στην διάγνωση και αντιμετώπιση των αρρυθμιών στα νοσοκομεία St Mary’s, Royal Brompton Hospital και στο Harefield Hospital έως το 2016. Στη διάρκεια της πολυετούς του εξειδίκευσης αντιμετώπισε εκατοντάδες ασθενείς με αρρυθμίες όπως κολπική μαρμαρυγή, υπερκοιλιακές ταχυκαρδίες, κοιλιακή ταχυκαρδία και βραδυκαρδίες. Εκπαιδεύτηκε στην επεμβατική αντιμετώπιση των αρρυθμιών με κατάλυση (ablation) και με εμφύτευση καρδιακών συσκευών δηλαδή βηματοδοτών, απινιδωτών ή αμφικοιλιακών συσκευών-θεραπεία καρδιακού επανασυγχρονισμού. Είναι πιστοποιημένος από την Ευρωπαϊκή Καρδιολογική Εταιρία-EHRA στην επεμβατική αντιμετώπιση των αρρυθμιών με κατάλυση (2015).

Παράλληλα και μετά το πέρας της εξειδίκευσής του στις αρρυθμίες ενηλίκων συνέχισε την εξειδίκευσή στη διάγνωση και αντιμετώπιση των αρρυθμιών στα παιδιά και στην διάγνωση και αντιμετώπιση των κληρονομούμενων καρδιακών παθήσεων στο Royal Brompton Hospital. Πιο συγκεκριμένα ορισμένα από τα πεδία της εξειδίκευσης του ιατρού είναι τα παρακάτω:

Καναλοπάθειες(Channelopathies) όπως σύνδρομο Brugada, σύνδρομο μακρού ή βραχέος QT (long QT/short QT), σύνδρομα πρώιμης επαναπόλωσης (ERS), προοδευτική νόσος του συστήματος αγωγής
Ιδιοπαθής κοιλιακή μαρμαρυγή
Κατεχολαμινεργική πολύμορφη κοιλιακή ταχυκαρδία (CPVT)
Αρρυθμιογόνος Δυσπλασία Δεξιάς Κοιλίας (ARVC)
Διερεύνηση λιποθυμικών επεισοδίων
Σύνδρομα αιφνιδίου καρδιακού θανάτου

Ο Δρ Κοντεγεώργης παρέχει επιστημονικά τεκμηριωμένη γενετική συμβουλευτική σχετικά με τις κληρονομούμενες καρδιακές παθήσεις σε γονείς και παιδιά, καθώς και σε έγκυες γυναίκες ή γυναίκες που επιθυμούν να τεκνοποιήσουν.
